I have the roms running and controls working fine. I am trying to get Final Burn Alpha configured since it seems to run a few of the shmups I like a bit better. They fill the screen as they should and what not. All of my game resolutions/images in MAME look great. I was actually going to post the same thing. Background, I am running a Raspberry 3b+ into a Makvision 2929D arcade monitor in my candy cab. I actually had this working at one point in mame4all using lr-mame whatever emulator selection and lr-fba-next. I had my joysticks (xbox wireless 360) working with this until I had to reset everything. First you needed to use a keyboard and use the Tab key then within the menu I was able to set what opened the menu which was assigned to my joystick right trigger as example then I also set the "Reset" to my right bumper on joystick this then allowed me to enter the menu and to reset or do service mode for games like Defender.Īnyway here's what I'd like to see working or at least posted. I posted out on the main General Discussion my working configs for the Xbox 360 controllers for mame4all and lr-fba-next. That current set up allows me to play just about any game in both emulators using Select as coin input, Start to pick 1 player or Start and to use the Left joystick as my controller instead of D-PAD. Holding Select then hitting Start "Exits" the game and returns you back to Emulation Station, but now my keyboard "Tab" is not working to get into the menu to set up what I mentioned above.
I've already deleted any default.cfg files and tried just about everything and can't figure out how to enter that menu again to finally get those 2 other items above working with Joystick only (MAME UI and RESET). Once this can be figured out my Xbox 360 Controller setups and configs for MAME would be complete and would help all those having similar issues.Since that's just me on this topic, let me at least register my findings so the next can make use of.
Got the MAME Romset upgrade 0.177 -> 0.178. I'm still to find a comprehensive way to upgrade all the games of the Romset. Tested one game, Dungeons and Dragons - Shadow over Mystara. I unzipped the rom, added just the ddsom.key, re-zipped the rom and bingo! it was working.
Looking for a way to do this in a full batch this can it be a problem. (This is a very simple "drag with right click, select 7zip> unzip to \.*") Unzip EVERY game of the Romset, each to one folder. Unzip EVERY game of the MAME Romset upgrade 0.177 -> 0.178 using the same method described above.
Merge the two sets (copy both to the same directory, allow windows to overwrite all the same name files) Final burn alpha roms retropie upgrade# What I read is that I can use a command line argument on 7zip to make this work but for some unknown reason didn't worked out for me. Supposedly they have this on a context menu.
I'm going to install Winrar, use this, uninstall Winrar. Go though a tool like ClrMAME Pro to audit all of my roms against the final burn alpha 0.2.97.40.dat that supposedly is compatible with Retropie Final burn alpha roms retropie install#
Using the power of magic (I still have absolutely no idea how to do this) just grab the "original" parent roms and USA "clones" eliminating all the bootleg crap. Why not use a tool like Romcenter? I don't know why, but Romcenter didn't catch my problem with the. Probably i'm doing something wrong, since these softwares are quite obtuse. If someone know a tool to filter and select roms based on some data (region, date, genre, original/clone.) and create a curated library as needed (split file, with just the roms that i selected) so I can upload to my Retropie, I would it be very grateful. On RetroPi you have two cores that are capable of running CPS2 games: MAME and FB Alpha. MAME is an "archival" project, the main objective is the correct behavior and the readability of the code.
This is very important for many reasons, but when you are talking about the limited power of the Raspberry Pi, Archival, Code readability, accuracy seats on the passenger seat cause the main driver is lightness, speed.
